WAYS TO WIN A MATCH
- KNOCKOUT: Fighter is unable to intelligently defend himself
following a strike(s).
- TKO: If the licensed ringside physician or referee decides the
fighter cannot continue due to a cut or other injury.
- SUBMISSION: When a fighter submits by tapping the opponent or the
mat more than "3" times as a result from a choke, lock, or for any other
reason. IF a fighter is in no position to tap out, he may yell "MATTE",
"QUIT" or "GIVE UP". IF a fighter cannot tap or cannot yell, the referee
shall stop the bout from his own personal determination of the fighter's
safety.
- REFEREE STOPPAGE: When a fighter is taking excessive punishment
but cannot or will not submit or quit, either due to striking, failing to
show a willingness to continue, a refusal to submit in the face of grave
injury, or any other reason the referee believes is necessary to preserve
the fighter's safety.
- THROW IN THE TOWEL: When a fighter's corner feels their fighter
has had enough and decides to end the bout for the safety of the fighter.
This shall count as a TKO.
- QUIT: When a fighter simply cannot or refuses to continue.

DECISION: When the about has ended after the bouts
specified time period without a winner, the bout decision shall be
determined by the (3) three judges, as set forth by these rules.
- DISQUALIFICATION: The fighters's opponent is disqualified by the referee.
LEGAL TECHNIQUES
- HAND STRIKES
- Fighters may strike with a closed fist or an open hand/palm of their
hand.
- Fingerstrikes or rakes are not allowed.
- Strikes to the throat are not allowed.
- ARM STRIKES:

- NO ELBOW STRIKES AT ALL in Amateur
Bouts.
- LEGS: Fighters may strike with their knees, shins and feet to all
parts of the body when the fight is standing up. Once one fighter's knee
touches the ring floor,or any other body part making it a 3 point stance, NO
kicks are allowed to that fighter's head as he is then considered "on the
ground". (a fighter is determined "ON THE GROUND" when that fighter's knee
touches the ring floor or he is otherwise not supported by his two feet,
alone, supporting him in a standing or crouched position.)
- THROWS AND TAKEDOWNS: All wrestling, judo, and jujitsu throws and
takedowns are permitted Except SUPLEXES!!!.
- CHOKES: All chokes can be done with the arms and legs EXCEPT
SINGLE HAND OR FINGERTIP THROAT CHOKES WHICH ARE ILLEGAL.
- LOCKS: Elbow, shoulder, wrist, knee, and ankle locks are allowed.
Single digit locks to the fingers or toes are not legal. NO ROLLING HEEL
HOOK, Straight leg locks only, no ROLLING LEG LOCKS
ALL MATCHES ARE 3 - 3 MINUTE ROUNDS WITH 1 MINUTE REST
- GENERAL JUDGING
- All matches will be judged by (3) three qualified MMA ringside
judges.
- Potential Scores - Not counting any point deductions:
- The Judges guidelines for good decisions are:
- Standup Striking
- Clinch Fighting Takedowns
- Positioning Submissions
- Ground Striking
- Overall Control
- MMA striking nor grappling has any more importance than any other
part of a fight as far as efficacy.
- As the "Knockdown" is in Kickboxing/Boxing, there are actually "3"
dominate Scoring techniques in MMA. They are
- Strike Knockdown
- High Impact Takedown or Slam
- Near Attempted Submission
- SCORING THE ROUNDS
- If the round is EVEN, Both fighters will be scored a 10 for the
round.
- The fighter who controls a round will be given a score of 10 for the
round while the other fighter will be given a score of 9 for the round.
- If a round is "Dominated" by 1 fighter and he/she scores 1 or
several Strike Knockdowns, High Impact Takedowns/Slams or Near
Submissions the "Dominating" Fighter shall be scored a 10 while his/her
opponent shall be scored an 8.
- One move cannot take an entire round away when the other fighter is
winning.
FIGHTER REQUIREMENTS
- FIGHTERS RULES MEETING
- All fighters are required to attend the pre-fight rules meeting held
the day of bouts/events. Such meeting will be conducted by the referee
and Promoter.
- FIGHTER PHYSICAL
- All fighters are required to receive a physical from a licensed
physician prior to their match.
- FIGHTER MINIMUM AGE
- Fighters must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- At all times during the match, all fighters shall obey the referee.
- All fighters are required to act with proper sportsmanship at all times,
and to obey the rules, at all times, and in all ways connected with the
match.
- Fighters may not train under the influence of any illegal drug, or legal
drug used illegally. Fighters must report any and all medication that they
are taking to the match physician prior to the bout. If the fighter is under
the influence of alcohol or any stimulant, or is taking any narcotic or
other medication, which the match physician determines would endanger the
fighter or his opponent, he/she will not be allowed to compete.
- The use of BenGay, IcyHot, and other such sports cremes is prohibited.
FIGHTERS
CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
- Fighters are required to wear an approved protective groin cup during
all matches.
- Fighters are required to wear an approved mouthpiece at all times while
the bout is in progress.
- Fighters are NOT allowed to wear wrestling shoes.
- Fighters may tape their wrists and hands but not over their knuckles.
Fighter handwarps must be "SIGNED OFF" by the event representative PRIOR to
the beginning of their bout.
- Fighters may lightly (as determined by the referee) place oil upon their
faces, but neither oils nor greases may be used on any part of the
competitor's body.
- Fighters fingernails and toenails must be cut and trimmed prior to any
bout.
- GLOVES
- Fighters are required to wear approved mixed martial arts style
gloves THAT ARE PROVIDED.
- Fighters may not wear an MMA Glove Smaller than 4 ounces.
- These will be required to be taped to the fighter by the referee
to ensure their stability during the bout.
- Fighter may wear approved shin, instep, elbow, and/or knee supports
and/or pads. These must be approved by the referee prior to the bout's
beginning and may be required to be taped to the competitor to ensure their
stability during the bout.
- Permissible apparel for the fighters shall include:
- Wrestling singlets.
- Boxing or kickboxing shorts/pants.
- Latex bike style shorts, "speedos".
- Any combination of the foregoing, and/or any other clothing approved
by the referee who may require such apparel to be taped or otherwise
secured to ensure its stability during the match.
- Under no circumstances shall apparel or equipment which includes
metallic and/or hard plastic and/or any edge or surface which could cause
extraneous injury to the fighters be allowed.
ILLEGAL
TECHNIQUES AND FOULS
If a fighter flagrantly breaks any rule, the official ring
referee shall immediately disqualify him. HOWEVER: If the foul is not severe or
intentional, the official ring referee shall issue a warning OR point
deduction(s) from the offending fighter
These "Fouls" are "Illegal" moves/techniques, not to be used in
a bout. A Foul is always going to be at the discretion of the referee. He/she
will make the determination, but not be limited to, the intent of the fighter
and the result of the foul. Then, he/she will have to consider whether to allow
the fouled fighter time to recuperate (if able to continue), and either
to give a warning to the opponent that committed the foul and/or deduct a point
or disqualify and stop the bout.
THE FOLLOWING TECHNIQUES ARE NOT ALLOWED & ARE CONSIDERED
FOULS
- NO Downward or "Spiking" Elbow Strikes.
- NO Forearm Strikes to the Head.
- Flagrant disregard of the referee's instructions.
- Engaging in any unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an
opponent.
- Biting.
- Eye Gouging.
- Fnger Strikes or Rakes to ANY part of the body.
- Knuckle Gouging to the face or any part of the body, including into the
throat.
- Clawing, pinching or twisting of the flesh - Pulling, pushing on
opponent's face.
- Throat strikes of any kind, including without limitation, grabbing the
trachea.
- One or two-"Handed" chokes applied directly to the throat and/or
windpipe.
- Kicks and Knees TO THE HEAD & NECK to a fighter who is "*DOWN".
- (*): When the fighter kicked is not in a "2-point position",
standing or crouching on his feet).
- Kicking, kneeing or stomping on or at a downed opponent above the waist.
(To the legs is allowed)
- Kicking the front of Opponents knee.
- Fish hooks (to the eyes, nose, ear, or mouth) or putting a finger into
any open orifice (cuts/lacerations).
- Grabbing of the Clavicle.
- Hair pulling.
- Groin: Groin techniques/attacks of any kind - Grabbing, Striking, etc.
- Single digit manipulation (Small joint manipulation - finger and toe
locks)
- Head butting.
- Striking the Spine, Back of Neck or Head.
- Lifting, pushing, throwing, or otherwise forcing an opponent out of the
ring or cage.
- Intentionally delaying the contest due to improper equipment, or by
intentionally dropping or spitting out the mouthpiece.
- Attacking an opponent on or during a break.
- Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the Referee or other ring
Official.
- Using abusive language in the Cage or Ring.
- Interference by a Fighters Cornerman/woman - Trainer.
RING ROPE OR CAGE GRABBING
- Fighters may NOT grab the ring ropes or cage AT ANY TIME the two
fighters are in contact with each other during the bout in an attempt to
stall action, trap his opponent, escape a technique, or otherwise gain
advantage in the match.
- Fighters may momentarily lean against ring ropes or cage to brace or
steady themselves or to gain/maintain their balance.
- If a fighter grabs or otherwise secures any ring rope or cage with a
hand, arm, foot or leg during the bout TO AVOID A SUBMISSION HOLD, the
referee shall stop the bout and deduct two (2) points from the fighter who
so grabbed the rope or cage.
- If a fighter continually holds the ring ropes or cage to rest, or pull
himself from the action, avoid the bout's action, or otherwise gain
advantage in the match, the referee will deduct one (1) point from the
resting fighter and two (2) points for each additional time.
- Excessive grabbing or other use of the ring ropes or cage in violation
of these rules may result, in the referee's sole discretion, in a fighter's
disqualification and an award of the bout to that fighter's opponent.
- The referee shall verbally instruct fighters to release the ring ropes
or cage, when appropriate, prior to warning, deducting points, and/or
disqualifying a fighter for violating these rules.
CORNERMAN & TRAINER
RULES & REGULATIONS
Failure to obey the following
Cornerman & Trainers Rules & Regulations will result in a
Minimum Fine of $250
And possible suspension from working any fighters corner
on ANY MMA Event.
Please see bottom of this page for such details.
- All fighters are allowed a maximum of two (2) cornermen or trainers at
ringside while the bout is in progress.
- Five (5) cornermen are allowed for Title bouts of National level or
higher.
- ALL CORNERMEN are required to STAY in their fighter's corner (outside
the ring or cage, of course) while the match is in progress.
- For the SAFETY of the Ringside Officials and Fans: IF a fighter's
trainer or cornerman leaves his/her corner area and goes directly ringside
or cage side where the two fighters are grappling that is not their corner
area to coach their fighter, the referee shall stop the bout and make one of
the following determinations:
- Warn the Coaching Corner to Stay in his/her Corner.
- Deduct one (1) point from the fighter whose cornerman left their
corner.
- End the round, awarding the entire round to the opposite fighter.
- End the bout, awarding the entire bout to the opposite fighter.
- Such cornermen shall only be APPROVED cornermen by the referee.
- Cornermen shall stay OFF the ring floor/canvas etc., while the bout is
in progress. NO LEANING ON THE RING OR CAGE!
- During the round breaks, only one cornerman is allowed in the
ring while the other one can stand outside the ring ropes on the outside
edge of the ring or on the floor. If the bout takes place in a cage, one cornerman is allowed on the cage area designated for such coaches to attend
to that coach's fighter.
- Cornermen must obey the referee at all times during the match.
- Cornermen must conduct themselves with appropriate and proper
sportsmanship in all ways connected with the match.
- Cornermen may spray (not pour) water and apply ice to a fighter between
rounds. No other substances may be applied between rounds, and the cornermen
are responsible to dry the corner area before the next round commences.
- Violation of the rules by corner personnel can result in warnings, point
deductions, and/or disqualification of that corner's fighter.
FINES & SUSPENSIONS: ALL Trainers and
Cornermen working on an Inferno Sanctioned
event must conduct themselves with appropriate and proper respect to ALL
Inferno Ring Officials. Any "Unacceptable
and Unjustified" rude or disrespectful behavior of ANY kind occurs by a
Cornerman or Trainer working an Inferno
event the result of such action will be a minimum fine of $250.00 up to
$2,500.00. In addition, if such a violation occurs, Inferno has the right to suspend the Trainer or Cornerman from
working as a cornerman for up to 12 months in ANY MMA event worldwide. If such a
suspension is given and the Trainer or Cornerman continues to work a fighters
corner while under suspension, they will be banned from any role on any future
Inferno event indefinatly as a Trainer or
Cornerman as well as a fighter.
